About Me

Hello there! Thank you for stopping by!

My name is Nikki and I will be your host as you go through my site. I thought I would just note a few things about myself so you have a better idea of who I am.

I have worked as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for over 9 years now. Law enforcement has been an interesting career choice to say the least as these years have not been dull at all. Unfortunately, the lifestyle that comes with it is no longer agreeing with too well. The messed up shifts, missed holidays and birthdays, and general stress of it all has taken its toll on me. Therefore, I am in the process of changing gears and diving deeper into the communication and information side that I have always loved about it. After only being able to go part-time for several years due to work, I finally received my Bachelor's in Sociology/Criminal Justice this spring. I am currently in graduate school to attain my Master's of Information Science degree. I am hoping that this will lead to a much better lifestyle in the future.

I have loved books and reading since I was very young. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of my mom and me reading, trading, and talking about books. She urged me from a young age to learn to read and write, because she felt that it was key to an education that could provide opportunities for me. With the experiences I have had in life, I can honestly say I believe it as well. It has been a passion throughout my life and it has enriched both my mind and soul through the books themselves and the friends and family that I share them with. It is one of first things I fell in love with my husband over. The first time I visited his house I was in awe of the amount of books and bookshelves. I thought to myself, "This is my kind of guy, I have a whole new library to go through!" We differ slightly on the genres, but otherwise we're very much alike on how reading and books should be incorporated in life.

I hope you enjoy reading my posts and commentaries as much as I have while creating them. This is a fairly new area of expertise for me, so bear with me as I strive to improve.   :)
